💰A financial ‘escape room’ puts vocational training students to the test🎯
The Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Fundación MAPFRE, have launched the
FINEXIT route, an innovative travelling financial ‘escape room’ that will tour vocational
training centres in more than 100 cities over the coming months to promote financial
literacy. In total, more than 5,000 young people are expected to take part.
Through this gamified activity, students learn how to interpret a company balance
sheet or insurance contracts and policies; how to exchange currencies and internalise
concepts such as the IBAN code or Return on Investment. They also work on other
concepts that are not strictly financial, such as making a SWOT or a company
organisation chart.
The initiative, which was launched a year ago to provide students with the necessary
tools and knowledge in financial education, will visit 15 autonomous communities.
The scape room introduces students into a ‘spaceship’, who become specialists in
different fields with the mission of rescuing Erica Midas from Mars, a character created
for the activity who represents a visionary entrepreneur and pioneer in a multitude of
technological fields, but who has been isolated on the Red Planet for a year. The
students must unravel whether the spacecraft’s artificial intelligence has taken control
of it.
The students, with the clock and oxygen ticking against them, must gain access to the
spacecraft, discover the objective of their mission and try to achieve it through
different tests whose common factor is teamwork and financial concepts.
